MCR Drop: New urban sport and culture festival coming to Manchester
Manchester will host a new urban sport and culture festival in August 2027, bringing together skateboarding, BMX and 3x3 basketball alongside music, art and wider street culture.
MCR Drop will take place across Manchester city centre from 6–8 August 2027, creating a new platform for urban sport and culture in the city.
The festival will bring athletes, artists and audiences together, with opportunities to watch elite and emerging sporting talent, experience cultural activity and get involved.
Bringing urban sport and culture together
MCR Drop has been developed around Manchester’s strong connections to sport, music, art and street culture. The festival will use the city centre as its setting, bringing sporting activity and cultural programming into public spaces and creating opportunities for audiences to experience the city in a different way.
Skateboarding, BMX and 3x3 basketball will form the sporting programme, alongside a wider programme of music, art and culture.
The event will also provide opportunities for participation, helping connect audiences with urban sports beyond the competition environment.
UKEL’s role
UKEL is delivering MCR Drop on behalf of Manchester City Council with funding from The National Lottery, working with partners across the city to develop and deliver the festival.
The event is part of UKEL’s wider work supporting major sporting events in the UK, bringing together event delivery expertise with local knowledge and partnerships.
MCR Drop will take place from 6–8 August 2027. Further details about the programme and opportunities to get involved will be announced over the coming months.
